Who we are
PlaceMate principal architect Jan Hogarth’s philosophy is centred on creating well-made, high quality, beautiful spaces that will hold their value and endure time and trends
Jan has designed over 500 domestic building projects of all sizes and budgets from Moreton Bay to Boggabilla, Mooloolaba to Byron Bay, with most in the western suburbs of Brisbane.
Jan Hogarth graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Design studies and a Bachelor of Architecture in 1987 and she’s been designing homes and units ever since.
Her built portfolio includes dozens of new homes and hundreds of renovations to homes from 1910 to 1990, on small lots, acreage, hillsides; with city, water and tree views. She personally designed and developed three multi-unit complexes for sale.
Jan has lived in St. Lucia for most of her life and is the mother of 3 adult daughters.
Jan’s practice has won the Master Builders Federation “Best Use of a Steep Site in Queensland” for two contemporary townhouses built on a 500sqm site that dropped 10m from a busy road. All 4 bedrooms and living areas captured the city views.
The practice also won the Master Builders Federation “Best Renovation under $300,000” for a 1910 cast concrete Californian bungalow style house in Indooroopilly. The winning design unified alterations undertaken in the 50’s, 70’s and 80’s and added a new wing.
Jan's skills were recognised in the Courier Mail in January of 2016 for her transformation of a Shorncliffe residence built originally in the 1910's! Have a look at the spectacular results for yourself by clicking here >>
