Reimagining the charm of a period classic
Live in a beautifully crafted home forever. Create large contemporary living spaces where the family with 3 teenagers could enjoy each other’s company, or be apart.
The formal rooms have wonderful dark timber panelling. Back kitchen and bathrooms had been the servants’ areas and boxed in the 1960’s and 70’s. Under the house was grubby and dark. There was no flow between spaces or to the outside. The house felt smaller than it was.
Our Design Solution
We extended the roof and rooms as the original builders would have, to create an open, flowing kitchen and indoor/outdoor living areas and verandah linking to the pool. Downstairs converted to spacious utility areas and a teenage den. Original features, like the brick chimney, were restored and highlighted.
